Gum Disease

The biggest cause of tooth loss in adults is periodontal disease, which destroys the bone around the tooth and can lead to pain and eventual loss. Regular dental exams help identify gum disease early and prevent its more painful and permanent effect.

Fort Des Moines Dental treats gum disease through regular cleanings, but the most severe cases require surgical therapy or grafts with a periodontist.

Our Patients

“My children and I have been coming to Fort Des Moines Dental since 1994! What started out as a fun place to pick a toy out of the treasure chest for a good checkup became a great place for all our dental needs. Friendly staff, attentive hygienists and well-spoken dentists keep us coming back, twenty-three years and counting!”

“I have been coming to Fort Des Moines Dental since I was 16 years old and now I’m 67 years old. I’ve been through three dentists and each one has been great. The dental assistants have done a good job and all were very friendly. I would recommend the clinic to anyone needing dental care.”
